We are seeking a candidate for the role of Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Technician. This position supports the organization’s health and safety program through inspections, hazard identification, incident investigations, training support, and ongoing promotion of safe work practices.The ideal candidate is a safety-conscious employee with strong communication skills, operational knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with employees and supervisors at all levels. This is an excellent opportunity for an employee interested in developing a career or competencies in occupational health and safety.In this role your duties will include the following:Conduct workplace inspections and identify hazards or unsafe conditionsAssist with incident and near-miss investigationsSupport corrective action tracking and follow-upPromote safe work practices and compliance with company policiesParticipate in risk assessments and hazard evaluationsAssist in maintaining safety documentation and recordsSupport safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training activitiesMonitor use of PPE and safe work proceduresParticipate in emergency preparedness activities and drillsWork collaboratively with supervisors, employees, and the safety committeesWe are looking for someone with:Safety & Technical AwarenessUnderstanding of workplace hazards and safe work practicesKnowledge of company safety procedures and applicable regulationsAbility to identify risks and recommend practical solutionsCommunication & Interpersonal SkillsStrong verbal and written communicationAbility to coach and influence others respectfullyComfortable speaking with employees, supervisors, and contractorsProblem SolvingAbility to investigate issues objectivelyStrong observation and analytical skillsAbility to prioritize and follow through on corrective actionsProfessionalismHigh level of integrity and accountabilityConsistent and fair approach to safety expectationsAbility to maintain confidentiality when requiredOrganization & AdministrationAccurate documentation and recordkeeping skillsAttention to detailBasic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office or equivalent)The requirements for this role include:Experience in operations, maintenance, manufacturing, logistics, or related fieldA valid driver’s license and passportPrevious leadership, mentoring, or training experience (considered an asset)Participation in safety committees or safety initiatives (considered an asset)First Aid certification (considered an asset)Health & Safety training or certification (considered an asset)Equivalent combinations of experience, training, and demonstrated safety leadership will be considered.We are looking for employees who:Demonstrate a strong commitment to workplace safetyLead by exampleCommunicate effectively and professionallyShow initiative and sound judgmentHave an interest in developing a safety-focused roleTraining and development opportunities will be provided to support the successful candidate in building their occupational health and safety knowledge and skills.
